Sustainable Products

SBS has formulated the environmental protection management institution throughout the whole production process. SBS designs and launches the recycled zipper. SBS requires suppliers to sign environmental protection agreements and regularly provide environmental protection testing reports of materials. Besides, SBS formulates environmental protection acceptance standards for each raw material and tests them strictly. SBS laboratory has passed CNAS accreditation, becoming a national laboratory. The laboratory is used to test the environmental performance of raw and auxiliary materials and finished products.

SBS products meet the requirements of the current EU REACH regulations, and have passed OEKO-TEX certification, reaching the infant class I standard.

Recyled Zipper

SBS designed and launched the recycled zipper which aimed to reduce the wastage of materials and minimize the impact on the environment. All three categories of SBS products have passed GRS 4.0 certification, with the maximum proportion of recycled materials being more than 90%, and reduce about 1,700 tonnes of greenhouse gases every year.

CNAS Laboratory

The test center of Fujian SBS Zipper Science & Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 1996. After then, the test center develops gradually with the growth of company business. Investing more than 4 million yuan, the test center owns international first-class testing equipment. In 2009, SBS became the first enterprise to pass CNAS certification in China zipper industry.

Sustainable Processes

SBS attaches great importance to environmental protection in the production process and has strict requirements for the production environment, process formula, materials use, per-sonnel operation and sampling test. During the production process, the inspector will conduct process and product sampling inspections as planned. Each batch of finished products must pass the environmental protection test before storing. Over the years, SBS has invested hefty sums of money in improving the production environment and equipment to save energy, reduce pollution and increase efficiency. SBS is the first enterprise to pass Bluesign certification in China zipper industry. SBS sets decline targets for the use of major energy resources such as water, electricity, gas, coal, etc. and assessed it. The turnover baskets/boxes throughout the whole process are recyclable.

Introduction: SBS stopped using boilers in 2019; nuclear power is the main source of electric-ity. In 2019, SBS started to purchase green electricity. Under the premise of government unified deployment, SBS actively increases the use proportion of green electricity year by year. (No quota was allocated in 2020 because of government deployment.)

Introduction: Due to the increased use proportion of clean energy and internal energy effi-ciency management, the carbon emissions of company decreases by about 7000T equiva-lent per year, while the production capacity increases by 20%.

Technology and Raw Materials Improvement

Example 1: Waterless Dyeing

Introduction: The tapes are dyed by a supercritical carbon dioxide waterless dyeing system, so as to save water and reduce the discharge of waste water. This technology is still in the testing phase currently.

Example 2: The Reuse of Waste Yarns

Introduction:The generated waste yarns are broken and reused to make black yarn accord-ing to a certain ratio, which can reduce the use of raw plastic particles by 80 tons per year, thus saving fossil raw materials and costs.

Example 3: The Reuse of Waste Plastic Particles

Introduction: The generated waste plastic particles are broken up and reused to produce black zipper teeth, which reduces 40 tons of raw plastic particles every year.

Example 4: Raw Black Yarns

Introduction: SBS reduces winding, dyeing and steaming in the production process of raw black yarn series products, which improves the production efficiency, reduces the cost of water, electricity and dye, and does not produce waste water pollution.

Example 5: The Recycling of Waste Zippers

Introduction:

1.The waste nylon zippers can be recycled to produce black zipper chains which don’t need to dye.

2.The carbon emission generated by the process of producing 1 ton of primary PET particles is 2.15 tons, while that of producing 1 ton of RPET particles is 1.13 tons, which is expected to reduce 1530 tons of carbon emission throughout the year in total.

3. While each ton of RPET particles is used, there will be 4.08 tons of carbon dioxide emission reduced, which is expected to reduce 6100 tons of carbon dioxide emission throughout the year in total.

Example 1: Electroplating Automatic Spray Painting Machine

Introduction: Intelligent production improves the stability of product quality and production efficiency, and reduces circulating water needed for manual oil spraying and spray painting. This update not only reduces water use, but also reduces pollutant discharge.

Example 5: Automatic Die Casting Machine

Introduction:The company replaced the new die casting equipment which equipped with an automatic separation system and automatic feed and return system, improving the production efficiency and quality of products, and saving electricity by about 16% per year.

Introduction: The drying room of automatic coating machine is insulated to reduce heat waste, saving 30 percent of electricity consumption.

Introduction: The heating part of injection molding machine is insulated to reduce heat waste, saving 11.11% of electricity consumption. This measure improves the environment of workshop production and reduces the workshop temperature by 1-2℃ in summer.

Clean Production

Since 2012, SBS began to carry out the clean production audit.

Introduction: Through this technical reform, the one-time success ratio of dyeing is effectively improved. By saving water and electricity and reducing the consumption of raw materials, about USD230,000 is saved per year.
