With the continuous advancement of sustainability concepts, the zipper industry is actively exploring the application of eco-friendly materials.

Zipper tapes can be made from recycled yarns. Through chemical recycling technologies, discarded materials are recovered and processed into primary raw materials. The zipper tape of the eco-friendly zipper shown in the image is made from recycled ocean waste. The collected marine waste is crushed and pelletized, then transformed into yarns, which are finally used to produce zipper tapes.

In addition, degradable materials are also an important category of sustainable materials. For example, straw plastic is made by combining agricultural straw with high-performance resins through specialized processing techniques. It is a thermoplastic resin derived from renewable resources and designed specifically for injection molding, while also being recyclable. This material offers good strength and hardness, contains no harmful additives. It can naturally degrade when buried in soil. Such materials can be applied to the production of zipper pulls.
From recycled waste to degradable materials, sustainable innovation are opening new possibilities for the zipper industry. SBS will continue to explore sustainable material technologies and provide greener solutions to support product development and industry transformation.
