On the afternoon of May 26, Fujian SBS Zipper Science & Technology Co., Ltd. welcomed a group of special visitors—teachers and students from Shenhu Central Primary School in Jinjiang. They visited SBS and took part in a smart manufacturing -themed study tour titled “Small Zipper, Big World: Exploring the Science Behind Smart Manufacturing.”
As a global zipper manufacturer, SBS has always embraced an open approach to connecting industry and education. Through immersive factory visits, the company aims to help young people better understand Made in China and experience the strength of local brands. The program focused on three themes: ideological and political education, scientific exploration, and design appreciation, offering students a hands-on journey into manufacturing.

In the company exhibition hall, students learned about SBS’s development from a small family workshop in 1984 to a world well-known brand today. The guide also shared the story of the 1996 “quality incident,” when the company chose to destroy defective products to protect its brand reputation. Over more than 40 years, SBS has remained committed to quality and innovation, reflecting the spirit of the “Jinjiang Experience” in industry development.

At the zipper knowledge zone, students explored the full production process from raw materials to finished products. Taking nylon zippers for an example, from tape weaving and teeth forming, to sewing, shaping, dyeing, and steaming, every step embodies precise craftsmanship and technical accumulation. The students carefully observed the structural features of different types of zippers, including nylon, metal, and plastic zippers.

In the product display area, SBS’s diverse functional and fashion products sparked the students’ creativity. They acted as “young designers,” sketching future zipper ideas and writing simple function descriptions.

At the end of the activity, Gao Xiuzhong, the company’s senior engineer and Science Vice Principal of Shenhu Central Primary School in Jinjiang, held a face-to-face interaction with the students, patiently answering their questions. Through communication, the students gained a deeper appreciation of the charm of technological innovation and manufacturing development.
A small zipper connects industry and daily life, as well as the classroom and the future. Through this activity, SBS hopes to bring more young people closer to Chinese smart manufacturing and inspire them to explore science and innovation.
